The Lemonade Stand

The Gift of Work

This past Tuesday, while my wife was at the grocery store with our girls, my 7-year-old daughter saw a bag of lemons and asked if she could have a lemonade stand to help raise money for a puppy that they saw in a pet store. My wife thought it was a good idea, but said that the girls would have to use their own money to purchase the ingredients and do all the work of making the lemonade. Friday night came around and all the plans that we had worked on for the week started into motion. The girls washed, heated, softened, cut and juiced 40 lemons. I thought their little arms were going to fall off!

Do We “Think”?

Eric Hovind September 6th, 2010

While looking up the definition for “Evolution” on Wikipedia, you will see the following sentence: “In chemistry, the term evolution is often used to refer to the production of a gas in a chemical reaction, but a process like natural selection is not involved.”

“I don’t care if I go to Hell.”

Eric Hovind September 6th, 2010

Have you ever heard an unbeliever say, “I don’t care if I go to Hell”? I was always taken aback when I would hear that phrase, because all my life I have been brought up in churches that teach about hell, and some preachers described it so vividly that you would have thought they had been there! I knew from a young age that is not a place I would want to go for even one second, let alone for eternity.

Learn the Bible: Talk to an Atheist

Eric Hovind September 1st, 2010

If you really want to learn your Bible, a great way is to talk to an atheist. This exercise will force you to know why you believe what you believe so that you can give an answer, just as we are told to do in 1 Peter 3:15. Just a thought, but if you are not sharing your faith, I have to wonder why. Could it be that you are not convinced yourself that it is true? If you really knew the truth, wouldn’t you want to shout it from the rooftops? Come on Christians, we have the truth, now share it!

It is very unsettling when I hear someone say, “God can do anything.” Is this truly the case? If that is so, then you serve an illogical god that does not exist. Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you want to serve the one true God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, then you are going to have to change your thoughts about who He is.

Two Questions for Unbelievers

Eric Hovind August 25th, 2010

What if you could destroy someone’s worldview with just two simple questions? Two very powerful, but very careful questions. It is interesting to see that when Jesus uses this same tactic of asking the right questions, He is able to silence the religious leaders of His day. In Mark 11:30 Jesus asked a question that forced the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders to retreat in silence. His question put them between a rock and a hard place. These were the well-educated, the smartest and the brightest, the foremost teachers of the day. Yet a great question was able to stop them in their tracks. You can do the same thing, and here are a couple of questions that will shut the mouth of the unbeliever.

How Do We Decide?

Eric Hovind August 23rd, 2010

There are lots of opinions in the world about who is right and who is wrong on any subject. Richard Dawkins interviews Wendy Write for a video entitled “The Genius of Charles Darwin,” and was making the claim that there is overwhelming evidence to show that Evolutionism is the right view over Creationism.  As always, Dawkins touted that “Science” was on his side: After all, he says, look at all the church leaders that believe in Evolutionism!
