On Prophesy in the news as I listened to the broadcast one day while doing chores overheard the host of the show saying there there is a prophesy in the Bible written thousands of years before the event saying that a modern day tower named Sied or some similar name is a tower that was built in honor a a huge dam that was built jointly by the Egyptians and the Russians. He said that God is rebuking them for saying they made the river when they did not.

No. Sied is Syene in Ezekiel which is modern Aswan. No tower has been built although the old temple at Abu Simbel was rescued from inundation and raised to higher ground. This operation was carried out not to celebrate the dam but as a direct consequence of its construction.

Would you prefer to have a river which flooded your land on an uncertain basis and gave less than one harvest a year on average or one where the levels were constant and allowed you to plan a larger area of irrigation and an average of nearly 2 harvests a year – not to mention plenty of hydro-electricity?

The tower doesn’t exist therefore Ezekiel got it wrong. God did not make the river – it was made by rainfall and the river still exists; I spent a very nice holiday on it a few years ago which I couldn’t have done at that time of year had the dam not existed as the water level would have been too low. I felt very sorry at the time for the local traders who relied on the tourist trade for their livelihood. Because of a small terrorist attack a few months earlier the Yanks had pannicked and stayed away.

Well, the universe is expanding. But it only has a limited supply of energy to turn into matter so it definitely cannot keep expanding forever. How do we know this? Well because the Universe is expanding. We can observe that expansion in the redshift of stars. This means that in the past, it must have been smaller. Rewind back and the universe would’ve been very small.
Matter and energy are the same thing. Energy can be converted into matter and vice versa. So it is Energy converting into matter that causes the universe to expand as more energy is turned into matter and this matter occupies the Universe. (This relationship isn’t actually enough to account for the current expansion, so we know there must be another type of energy out there, but that’s all we know, so we call it dark energy).
So when the universe first started, there is more energy than matter. After the energy has been converted into matter, the atoms and particles have a certain amount of kinetic energy associated with them. So they move very, very fast. Temperature is just a measure of how fast something is moving, the faster something is moving, the hotter it is. Since the atoms/particles are moving really fast just after the Universe has started to expand, the Universe is very, very hot. As time goes on and the Universe further expands, the atoms slow down and the Universe is much colder as a result. Absolute zero is defined as the temperature when atoms and molecules completely stop. In space it hasn’t even reached absolute zero. But space is getting colder, although very, very, very, very slowly. That means that the molecules in space are slowing down. From the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation Picture of the Universe, we can see a correlation between the temperature of the Universe and it’s expansion.
Since there is a correlation between the temperature of the Universe and its expansion, we can conclude that the Universe will keep expanding until the molecules have come to a complete stop. Then the Universe will be out of energy to convert into matter and everything will be too cold for ANYTHING to exist. The Universe will end with the Big Freeze.
